FTSE 100 CEO pay levels reach highest levels on record – the reaction

Widespread media coverage of this year’s HPC CEO Pay Report

This year’s HPC annual review of executive pay, showed median FTSE 100 CEO pay increasing for the fourth year in a row, this time to a record £4.19 million.

While the growth in CEO pay (2.2%) is smaller than in recent years, and lower than wage growth in the wider economy, the £500k+ growth in mean CEO pay from £4.42 to £4.98 million suggests that while CEO pay has been stable for many companies, the pay of CEOs at the largest companies has actually increased at a faster rate.

The report has been widely covered in the media including by BBC, Sky News, Financial Times, Guardian, Bloomberg, Mirror, the Times and Daily Mail. Guardian coverage also included a feature on why CEO pay keeps going up and an editorial calling for the issue to be tackled.
