We are recruiting for a new research and policy manager! This is an exciting opportunity for someone interested in issues including economic inequality, corporate power and responsible business to help shape policy on these important topics.
Main responsibilities:
- Work with Directors to plan a detailed HPC research programme
- Work with Directors to fund-raise for the research programme.
- Carry out analysis of trends in top pay and inequality, based on company reports, government statistics and academic research
- Researching and writing HPC reports, briefings and media articles on topics including top pay, corporate governance employment rights, the political power of big business
- Identify and build networks with key stakeholders capable of influencing policy in relation to top pay and inequality
Person specification:
- Experience of producing written reports for an informed audience (for example in academia, think tank, government/business) (essential).
- Demonstrable interest in the topics covered by the HPC, including top pay, inequality, business policy and working lives, and sympathy with our aims of fairer, more proportionate pay distribution and better working lives. (essential)
- Experience of the policy debates and stakeholder perspectives relating to these issues (desirable)
- Experience of fundraising skills (desirable)
- Experience of working with media/social media (desirable)
Skills:
- Excellent face-to-face and written communication skills (essential)
- Excellent analytical skils (essential)
- Planning and organisational skills – excellent time management, ability to prioritise (essential)
- Ability to build working relationships with key stakeholders including policymakers, funders and sponsors (essential)
Qualifications:
- Educated to degree level

- Ability to work independently and unsupervised as well as part of a small team
- Enterprising and able to use own initiative
