Sign the High Pay Centre and Equality Trust’s petition calling for a maximum 10:1 pay ratio
Our new CEO pay report shows that median pay for FTSE 100 chief executives has risen again to £4.58 million – 122 times the median UK worker’s earnings. This is the third consecutive year of record highs, underlining how entrenched extreme top pay has become.
We know the consequences: widening inequality, weakening trust in business and politics, and an economy that prioritises excessive rewards at the top over sustainable investment and fair wages.
In response, the High Pay Centre and the Equality Trust are launching a new petition with 38 Degrees calling for a maximum pay ratio. Specifically, we are urging Government to ensure that no company can pay its highest-earning employee more than 10 times the salary of its lowest-paid worker.
Polling we conducted with Survation shows that this proposal is supported by a clear majority of the public. We believe that building visible public backing is essential if we are to shift the debate around fair pay and inequality.
